The new Perodua Aruz SUV is finally out. Only two variants are available, namely 1.5 X (RM72,900) and 1.5 AV (RM77,900).Both offer five-year or 15,000-kilometer warranty packages and are rated five stars in the ASEAN NCAP crash safety test.
Under the hood, the stylish seven-seater SUV is equipped with the familiar 1.5-liter 2nr-ve naturally aspirated four-cylinder gasoline engine, which produces 101 HP at 6,000 RPM and 133 Nm of torque at 4,200 RPM. The engine has Dual VVT-i and Eco Idle functions to help it meet the requirements of the EEV with a combined fuel economy rating of 15.6 km/l. The four-speed automatic transmission is in line with international standards, transfering power to the rear wheels.
In terms of the rest of the kit list, both models are configured with standard 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, keyless entry and start, integrated SmartTAG, six airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, VSC, ramp start assist, ramp descent control Isofix child seat anchored to the second row of external seats.
The improved car safety index
When it comes to Safety, Aruz is equipped with Perodua's 1.5 AV exclusive Advanced Safety Assist (ASA) 2.0, which includes pre-collision warning, pre-collision braking, pre-departure alarm, and pedal error operation control. This increases pedestrian detection capability (up to 50 km/h) and increases the running speed of pre-collision warning to 100 km/h and pre-collision braking to 80 km/h while it’s 30 km/h in Myvi.
The GearUp range of accessories
As for the GearUp range of accessories for the seven-seater SUV, many aesthetics and features remain in the accessories list though the list is shorter than other Perodua models (for example, without body kits)
Externally, Perodua provides a set of door curtains for RM160, while the chrome scuffing board for front and rear thresholds retails is for RM150. Also, the RM160 rear bumper protector prevents scratches caused by loading items into the trunk in which you can install the RM140 trunk.
Inside, there are coil floor MATS priced at RM200, baby seat at RM 785 and baby seat at RM975, both of which comply with ISOFIX standards. Those who wish to reduce noise while driving can also buy bonnet and door insulation at RM80 and RM455 respectively.
Finally, there is a Bluetooth tire pressure monitoring system that can be monitored using a smartphone app and retails for RM430. Perodua also offers utility kits, bundled with door visor, coil pads, and luggage racks, for RM450.
The online bookings
Since opening orders for Aruz in the New Year, the company has received 2,200 pre-orders for its seven-seater SUV since Jan. 3. Modest it may seem, despite the Aruz has only been available to book for just under two weeks so far.
